Proposal Discussion

  • John Lau -- Interested in Transportation & Public Safety
  • Coalition Proposal
  • Chuck Manual – Interested in either (TIM Network Support Proposal or Transportation & Public Safety Coalition Proposal)
    • Many, many pockets of need for partnership between (collaboration) transportation and public safety
    • Need coalition of transportation and public safety professionals
    • Attempt to get liaisons from public safety organizations to be involved in TIM Committee transportation liaisons and need public safety individuals. Public safety individuals to them provide regular liaisons reports at TIM Committee meetings.
    • Meeting in Las Vegas to be August 1st or 2nd

Liaison Reports

  • ITSA ESC—to discuss at later date
  • TRB Fwy Ops—very favorable response
  • ATA/NIMC—NIMC has received small funds to conduct I.M. conferences. Remain active not sure of future direction.
  • ASCE Traffic Ops—Met at TRB, remain supportive co-sponsors of committee.
  • AASHTO Traffic Eng.—Meeting in mid-September they have been contacted. Barry Drogin not "officially" appointed to committee yet. Have not attended meeting yet.
  • IEEE IMWG—Proposed standard for incident management message sets to be available for comment by end of July. (First product of IEEE IMWG) Guide documents are also proposed which may "point" to various national examples where information/data is filtered and shared. Presentations of "success" stories to law enforcement community is important this could be agenda item or topic of discussion at Sunday TRB Incident Management workshop.
  • I-95 Coalition--projects that have been endorsed:
    • training
    • emerging accident invest. Tech
    • tool to evaluate/quantity incident management benefits.
    • regional groups meet eve
    • New England group meeting end of July
    • Newsletter editor (Patti Reich-TransCore (703) 820-5455)
    • place small article on TIM Committee in I-95 Newsletter
  • ComCARE — has comprehensive web site http://www.Comcare.org
    • 911 Bill (wireless)
    • Outreach to telematics centers (ConStar; etc.)
    • ComCARE is seeing many synergies between transportation and public safety organizations
    • ComCARE has collected a significant amount of data/research reports which are available

TRB Event (January 2000)

  • ITE TIM Committee to possibly use workshop "room" in the afternoon to

Las Vegas Meeting

  • ITE TIM Committee will meet August 1st or 2nd location to be determined
